Space launch is an inherently uncertain activity. Before requesting a quote or booking capacity through charterspace.io, read and understand the following risks.
1. No Guarantee of Launch or Capacity
Listed Empty Legs represent residual capacity offered by the launch operator or its authorized Provider, subject to change without notice. A listing does not constitute a reservation, and a submitted Quote Request does not constitute a booking. Even a confirmed Booking can be de-manifested, delayed, or cancelled by the operator at any time, for operational, safety, regulatory, or commercial reasons entirely outside the control of CharterSpace.IO.
2. Operator Retains Final Authority
The launch operator retains sole and final authority over manifest composition, cargo acceptance, scheduling, and mission execution. CharterSpace.IO and its Providers act as intermediaries and marketplace facilitators only; CharterSpace.IO does not control, and cannot guarantee, any operator decision.
3. Schedule Risk
Launch windows are estimates and routinely shift due to weather, range availability, vehicle readiness, regulatory approval, or upstream manifest changes. A shift may affect or invalidate a Booking’s booking deadline. Where the Platform detects schedule drift, affected listings are placed on hold and both parties are notified — this is a Platform safeguard, not a guarantee against loss.
4. Export Control & Legal Risk
Tendering cargo without required export licensure, or misrepresenting cargo contents, exposes the shipper to legal liability independent of and in addition to any Platform consequence. See the Prohibited Cargo Policy.
5. Cargo Loss / Damage Risk
CharterSpace.IO does not itself handle, transport, or insure cargo. Any loss, damage, or non-recovery of cargo is governed by the operator’s own terms of carriage and any separate insurance arrangement the shipper obtains. CharterSpace.IO strongly recommends independent cargo insurance for any tendered payload.
For requestors who use the optional cargo insurance add-on, CharterSpace.IO facilitates an estimate and, if you proceed with your booking, will work with a licensed broker or carrier to quote and confirm a policy on your behalf, subject to broker/carrier availability. CharterSpace.IO is not the insurer and is not itself a licensed insurance broker — it acts only as your agent in obtaining a policy from a third party. Any estimate shown to you before booking is not a bindable price; the confirmed price is set by the broker or carrier, may differ from the estimate, is not guaranteed by CharterSpace.IO, and confirmation timing is not guaranteed.
6. Payment & Blockchain Risk
- Fiat payments are processed via a third-party, PCI-compliant processor.
- Cryptocurrency payments (e.g. USDC) are irreversible once confirmed on-chain. Sending funds to an incorrect address or on an unsupported network may result in permanent loss, with no recourse through CharterSpace.IO.
- NFT Certificates, where minted, represent a reservation record, not a guarantee of cargo delivery, and their market value (if any) is not warranted by CharterSpace.IO. Leasing a certificate’s temporary usage rights (ERC-4907 “user” role) does not transfer ownership and is itself subject to all the risks in this document.
- Blockchain network congestion, fee volatility, or smart-contract-level issues could affect transaction cost or timing. The smart contract underlying NFT Certificates is deliberately non-upgradeable for this MVP; this reduces certain upgrade risks but means CharterSpace.IO cannot alter deployed contract logic after the fact.
7. No Investment Advice
Nothing on the Platform, including any NFT Certificate, is investment advice or an offer of a security.
8. Your Acknowledgment
